The Latest: Flood forces evacuation of suburban Dallas homes Back to video
Almost two dozen homes have been evacuated in a Dallas suburb after days of heavy rains overflowed a neighbourhood lake.
Authorities recommend voluntary evacuations in a flooded neighbourhood in southern Rockwall was ordered after runoff in Buffalo Creek overflowed Rockwall Lake, about 20 miles northeast of Dallas.
Several homes have been inundated, but no injuries have been reported.

The National Weather Service said the area most at risk of flooding is along the western side of the state, near the Mississippi River.

The American Red Cross says it has opened eight shelters in northern Indiana, where crews used boats to help residents evacuate their homes. Indiana University-South Bend cancelled Thursday classes, and residents of a student apartment complex were encouraged to leave.
In Michigan, states of emergency were declared in the Lansing area as officials recommended the evacuations of several neighbourhoods. Flooding also hit nearby Michigan State University.
